FOUR DEAD, SEVERAL INJURED IN SEPARATE ROBBERY ATTACKS

Four people have been killed while several others sustained injuries following two separate armed robbery attacks in the Bono East and Northern Regions.

According to the Ghana Police Service, the deadly incidents occurred on May 2, 2026, prompting a major security response.

In the first attack, armed robbers reportedly invaded a fuel station at Sampa near Jato Zongo in the Atebubu District. The assailants shot and killed two people, injured others, and fled with cash belonging to the fuel station attendant.

Later the same day, another group of gunmen ambushed a passenger bus near Nasia along the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing two passengers instantly and leaving several others with gunshot wounds.

Following the incidents, Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno ordered officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate Headquarters and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit to move into the affected areas to support investigations and lead a manhunt for the suspects.

The Police Service said security has since been heightened in the two regions, with armed patrols intensified to prevent further attacks.
