GES Launches Probe into Alleged Malpractice in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a full-scale investigation into reported cases of malpractice in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In a statement released on Sunday, September 7, the GES said it had taken note of media reports, including a JoyNews TV documentary, alleging widespread cheating in some schools.

Management indicated that transcripts of the documentary would be secured and reviewed as part of the probe, stressing that the Service maintains a zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice. It further cautioned that any teaching or non-teaching staff found culpable would face strict disciplinary sanctions.

The GES added that the inquiry has the full support of the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and will be conducted in collaboration with WAEC, National Security, and law enforcement agencies to root out malpractice and safeguard the integrity of the examination process.
