NPP General Secretary Vows to Support Prisons After Shocking Revelation.

Lawyer Justin Frimpong Koduah, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has pledged to improve the living conditions of prisoners after being shocked by the harsh realities of life behind bars.

This vow comes after the Ashanti regional Deputy Director of Prisons Mr James Myinyelle delivered a startling speech at the Ashanti regional GJA thanksgiving service and get-together ceremony held yesterday at the longford event centre .

The Deputy Director’s revelations painted a dire picture of prison life, with inmates at the Kumasi central prison facing severe overcrowding, inadequate food, and poor nutrition.

The prison, designed to accommodate 500 inmates, is currently housing over 1,800. Moreover, prisoners are supposed to receive three meals a day but are instead fed only twice, with meals lacking essential protein.

Lawyer Koduah, visibly moved by the Deputy Director’s words, expressed his commitment to supporting the prisons and ensuring better living conditions for inmates.

He acknowledged that politicians, including himself, are not immune to imprisonment and therefore have a responsibility to advocate for humane treatment and rehabilitation of prisoners.

As a lawyer and politician, Koduah has been instrumental in shaping the NPP’s policies and agenda. His experience as a former Deputy Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser and Chairman of the Strategic Communications Committee of the Ashanti Region NPP has equipped him with a deep understanding of the complexities of Ghanaian politics .

Koduah’s pledge to revamp the prisons is a welcome development, particularly given the country’s ongoing efforts to reform its justice system. By advocating for better living conditions and treatment of prisoners, Koduah is not only promoting human rights but also contributing to a safer and more just society.

As the NPP General Secretary, Koduah’s commitment to prison reform is a significant step towards addressing the systemic challenges facing Ghana’s correctional facilities. His leadership on this issue has the potential to inspire meaningful change and improve the lives of countless individuals behind bars.
