Family Seeks Answers After 14-Year-Old Girl Dies in Mpraeso Amanfrom Incident
The family of 14-year-old Keziah Mirekua, a final-year pupil of Mpraeso Amanfrom Basic School, is calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to her death after she reportedly set herself on fire at a school park in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Keziah reportedly sustained severe burns in the incident but later died. The reasons behind the incident remain uncertain, as relatives have given differing accounts about what may have happened.
Her grandmother, Christiana Nkansah, told Adom News that the family had heard allegations linking the incident to a possible pregnancy involving a young man who allegedly denied responsibility.
According to her, Keziah reportedly made some disclosures while receiving treatment at the hospital.
However, the girl’s mother and sister have rejected claims that she was pregnant. Although they acknowledged reports that she was in a relationship with a young man, they insisted that she was not expecting a child.
The two relatives believe other circumstances may have contributed to the incident and want the relevant authorities to investigate the matter to establish what actually happened.
The conflicting accounts have left the family searching for clarity as they mourn the death of the young pupil.
